Attorney Mooradian's client, a young man in his 20s, was in removal proceedings after he entered the United States without inspection as an immigrant juvenile. Through previous counsel, the client was able to obtain Special Immigrant Juvenile Status. Before the client was able to obtain Permanent Residence, however, the client's case was re-calendared to the Immigration Court for an Individual Hearing regarding his removal.
The client faced allegations that he was inadmissible due to gang involvement. In fact, the Department made allegations that the client was a verified gang member. Attorney Mooradian was able to present extensive information to the court regarding the equities in the client's case, i.e., his work history, his educational background, and positive steps that he has taken to remain safe and out of trouble. Attorney Mooradian successfully argued to the Immigration Judge that the accusations relied on speculation. Ultimately, the Judge terminated the removal proceedings so that the client may now apply for his green card (permanent residence) with USCIS.
