Attorney Mooradian was able to today obtain release from custody from a client detained at the border. The client is from Guatemala. Initially, DHS indicated to the attorney that the client would need to be detained for a minimum of 14 days, and that she would need to see an immigration judge in order to request bond. After extensive negotiations over the course of several days, Attorney Mooradian was able to secure her release on recognizance this afternoon. The juvenile is now able to fly to Boston and will reunify with her family, and she will be able to pursue immigration relief without being detained during the interim.
