Special Findings for Abused Child

Attorney Mooradian recently received special findings of fact and rulings of law to help protect an immigrant child.  The child, who submitted a complaint to one of the Probate and Family Courts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, had been abused, abandoned and neglected by one of his parents in his country of origin.  The abuse was both physical and verbal, and the abandonment included the defendant/parent leaving him in a gang plagued area with no social or financial support.

Mooradian worked through a case complicated by parent inaction to find evidence to support the child's right to stay in the United States. The judge also agreed that the child had been abused, abandoned, and neglected, and that it was in the child’s best interests to remain in the United States instead of being forced to return to the site of so much abuse.

While this particular child was not yet in deportation proceedings, the findings can be used to fight against deportation should such enforcement or attempted enforcement occur.
